Laser Hair Removal

During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the tube-shaped sacs within the skin (hair follicles) that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.

Laser hair removal offers a long-term solution for unwanted hair.

Most patients have unwanted hair somewhere on the body. Shaving and waxing are two options for unwanted hair, but both offer only temporary solutions, and many find that hair seems to grow back faster and thicker the more these grooming practices are repeated. Laser hair removal offers a long-term solution for unwanted hair. This non-surgical procedure can effectively eliminate unwanted hair and minimize new growth.

What to Expect

Laser Hair Removal Before & After

What to Expect

BEFORE

Yes, this is encouraged! The treatment area should be shaved completely prior to treatment. Legs should be shaved around 24 hours prior to your appointment to avoid irritation. Do not wax, tweeze, epilate or use chemical depilatories between laser treatments. Since the laser targets the root of the hair, it must be present for the treatment to be effective. Shaving is the only form of hair removal recommended during the course of your treatments.

DURING

Although discomfort should be minimal throughout the hair removal treatment, a topical anesthetic is often applied to the skin, as an added precaution. Once the anesthetic has taken effect, safety glasses will be placed on the patient (to protect the eyes from the laser), and treatment will begin.

AFTER

Although some initial results may be evident after a single laser hair removal session, patients should understand that it typically takes at least three treatments to achieve maximum results. After a series of three treatments, the average patient experiences a 79% reduction in hair growth.
