PRP Hair Restoration

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for hair restoration work by promoting blood supply to hair follicles that triggers hair growth. Non-surgical hair restoration involving PRP also increases hair shaft thickness to give thin hair more volume.

What to Expect

BEFORE

Once your appointment is scheduled, do not use retinol products five days prior to treatment. We also need to take a small vial of your blood to make platelet-rich plasma (PRP), so please eat a small meal before your appointment.

DURING

After your consultation with a board-certified clinician, we'll take your blood, complete a "hair map" and then proceed with scalp injections containing your PRP. The entire procedure takes about one hour.

AFTER

Skip exercising or doing any physical activity that makes you sweat and don't wear a hat for at least 24 hours after treatment. Your scalp may feel a little sore afterwards, but many people report feeling no discomfort at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

PRP Hair Restoration

How Does PRP for Hair Restoration Work? Does It Involve Surgery?

PRP hair restoration is a non-surgical, medical hair restoration treatment that uses PRP to stimulate follicle growth and reverse hair thinning (hair miniaturization) and common baldness (androgenic alopecia) in both men and women.

What Can I Expect Before and During PRP Hair Restoration at Chicago Med Spa?

Once your appointment is scheduled, do not use retinol products five days prior to treatment. We also need to take a small vial of your blood to make platelet-rich plasma (PRP), so eat a small meal before your appointment. After your consultation with a board-certified clinician, we'll take your blood, complete a "hair map" and then proceed with scalp injections containing your PRP. The entire procedure takes about one hour.

Can I Resume My Daily Activities After Hair Restoration with PRP?

Yes! However, skip exercising or doing any physical activity that makes you sweat and don't wear a hat for at least 24 hours. Your scalp may feel a little sore afterwards, but many people report feeling no discomfort after treatment.

When Should I Expect to See Results?

After your first treatment, we'll ask you to return for two more treatments at six-week intervals. Three months after your third treatment (or six months following your first treatment), your progress will be evaluated by a clinician. By this time, your hair should look and feel thicker. Follow-up treatments are typically needed about twice a year, depending on your progress.
