What to Expect from Restylane Kysse
After your consultation appointment with Reflections Med Spa, you will receive Restylane Kysse injections into your lips to add fullness and volume. If desired, you may also have another injection just above your lips to smooth away perioral rhytids (fine lines and wrinkles above your lips). You must be 21 years of age or older to receive Restylane Kysse injections.
Your med spa provider may apply a topical anesthetic to your lips prior to beginning injections. Restylane Kysse contains lidocaine, a numbing agent that starts working as soon as the injection is completed. Once you see desired results, your doctor will gently massage areas that received injections to encourage even distribution of the dermal filler.
And, yes! Results of Restylane Kysse injections are visible immediately. In clinical trials submitted to the FDA for approval, most trial subjects reported desired results lasting up to 10 to 12 months.
Common Side Effects of Restylane Kysse
Anytime the skin is even slightly penetrated by a foreign object, side effects will occur that are minimal and temporary. With lips being more sensitive than other forms of skin, you can expect several common side effects following Restylane Kysse injections. These include:
Swelling
Itching
Mild bruising/redness
Tenderness
Most patients report diminishing side effects several days after injections. Applying a cold compress to the lips works well to reduce swelling and discomfort.
Avoid taking NSAIDs, aspirin, or supplements that are known to thin the blood for at least one week after treatment. They may increase bruising and blood seepage at injection sites. For the first 24 hours after receiving Restylane Kysse injections, you should also avoid vigorous physical activity and exposure to sunlight, tanning beds, or heat lamps. They could exacerbate existing side effects.
